Abstract

MWCNT was dispersed in solvent using bead mill processing. MWCNT shape (i.e., length and linearity) and graphite crystal degree were influenced by the bead mill processing. To clarify the effect of dispersion processing on MWCNT shape (length, length distribution and linear parameter), we examined Raman spectra and electric conductivity values in powder. The MWCNT length became shorter due to the processing and reached a certain length (about 40% of initial number averaged length), the electric resistivity in powder state increased by 30% with decrease of MWCNT length. Also, the processed MWCNT was re-dispersed in a polymer solution (polyvinylpyrrolidone/N-methylpyrrolidone), MWCNT/polymer composite thin layer having about ∼100 nm of thickness was prepared by the spin coating of the dispersed solution. By observation of MWCNT network and measurements of electric conductivity, the relationship between uniformity of MWCNT network and the electric conductivity in the thin layer was examined.<br>
