Abstract

The adsorption of surfactant molecules at interfaces is an important aspect in surface science research directed at elucidating surface structures. The surfactant monolayer can be formed at various interfaces, and the monolayer at the air-water interface is the most simple and basic system. There are two types of the monolayer at the air-water interface, namely, spread monolayer and adsorbed monolayer. In this paper, we demonstrate that infrared external reflection spectroscopy is a very powerful tool in the elucidation of the molecular states and compositions of adsorbed monolayer at the air-water interface.
