Abstract
To obtain the basic information to evaluate the potential of Tamarix ramosissima in bioremediation of saline soil, we investigated the effects of saline irrigation on Na+ dynamics of current year rooted cuttings. The plants were grown in pots in a greenhouse and were irrigated field water with 0, 100, 200 and 400 mM of NaCl. The amount of Na+ accumulated in the aboveground parts was 1.8-2.2 g m-2 120 days-1. The amount of Na+ absorbed by the plants was 10-19 g m-2 120 days-1, which accounted for 9%-17% of that in soil.
