抄録

A two-day teaching course to teach and qualify doctors and sonographers who will be engaged in breast screening using ultrasound was offered twice in Ibaraki Prefecture. To evaluate the effectiveness of the course, two tests, which were videotaped, were performed before and after the course. Test one consisted of 6 cases and was used to evaluate the ability to find cancers. Test two consisted of 10 cases and was intended to evaluate accuracy of categorization of lesions. After the course, there was no change in the results of test one. This may have been because two days were not enough to improve this ability, or the test itself was inadequate. The results of test two showed improvement, demonstrating that the course was effective for teaching how to evaluate and categorize lesions. The adoption of this teaching course will improve the quality of breast cancer screening using ultrasound.
