Abstract

Stochastic design method is a method helps to make expressions, using random number generator. The authors have been developing a visual design support tool based on the stochastic method about for 10 years. During the period, the tool is used for education and visual creation as a useful interactive drawing tool. In this paper, it is reported that this tool is also effective on visual idea generation, support. The segmentation of randomness, granularity of random number application, and tight interaction with user, are introduced as the important factors for creation, based on the result of academic research in design science and related academic fields.
