An 84-year-old man was referred to our hospital for further examination of a hepatic mass measuring 2 cm in the S5 of the liver that was found by MRI after endoscopic mechanical lithotomy (EML) for common bile duct stones. Physical examination and laboratory investigations showed no signs of liver dysfunction. Hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus markers were negative, and the levels of serum tumor markers were normal. Abdominal CT scan showed the mass as a hypovascular tumor, however, Gd-EOB-DTPA (Primovist) enhanced-liver MRI findings suggested that the tumor was a hepatocellular carcinoma, and a right lobectomy of the liver was performed. From the pathological findings, the tumor was diagnosed as a MALT (mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue) lymphoma. He received no further treatment and remains well without recurrence 14 months after the hepatectomy. We herein report a rare case of hepatic MALT lymphoma and a review of the literature.
