Abstract

インスリン様活性 (insulin-like activity;ILA) は,インスリンやインスリン様成長因子 (insulin-like growth factor;IGF) により誘導される生理活性の総称で,動物の一生の多くの生命現象に関与している.ILAは,いろいろな細胞外因子や生理状態によって調節され,正常な発生,発達・成長,成熟,代謝制御が可能となっている.最近になり,ILAは老化の調節にも関連していることが明らかとなり,ILAの制御法の開発は,高齢化社会で克服すべき疾病の予防や治療の新しい戦略となる可能性がある.本稿では,最初にインスリンとIGFの性質や細胞内シグナル伝達機構を概説した後,ILAが,がん,脳神経疾患,動脈硬化,糖尿病の発症に果たす役割について説明し,最後に,われわれが進めているILAの新しい制御法の開発の試みについて紹介する.
