Abstract

Ceramic-coated liposomes, cerasomes, were used as a new gene carrier for transfecting primary hippocampal neurons, to overcome the fusibility of conventional liposomal carriers. Cerasomes successfully mediated the transfection of primary neurons and minimized toxicity without adverse effects on axonal growth to acquire their unique neuronal morphology.
