Abstract

In this paper, the experimental results on the triggering characteristics of a field distortion type switch are described. The main electrodes of 35mm diameter which are made of brass are separated by 13mm. A triggering electrode of 2mm diameter is made of tungsten. The experiments are performed under the condition of atmospheric pressure. The potential of the triggering electrode is adjusted to coincide with the space potential between the main electrodes. The influence on the triggering characteristics caused by the relative position of the trigger pin to the main electrodes, the triggering voltage and the polarity of the triggering voltage are investigated.
