Liophilic noncyclic diimines compounds L_4(having 2-hydroxyphenyl group) , L_5(having 3-pyridyl group) , L_6(having 4-pyridyl group) . L_7(3-thienyl group) and L_8 (3-furyl group) were synethesized for 4-0ctyldiethylenetriamine and each aromatic aldehyde. The structure of these compounds were confirmed by FT-NMR spectra, FT-IR spectra and elemental analysis. Previous compounds (L_l(having 2-thienyl group), L_2 (having 2-furyl group), L_3 (having 2-pyridyl group)) and this work compounds as the ligands were used aqueous-1,2-dichloroethane system extraction for Cu ion. And their extractability for Cu ion were measured in the precence of sodium picrte. All compounds showed 60-90% extractability for Cu ion at pH 3-5.3. The ligands L_3 was showed more highly extractability in the all ligands. 2-Substituted ligands were showed highly extractability than 3-subutiuted ligands. The extractability was difference between N, O and S donor atom. These result were consistent with HSAB(Hard and Soft Acids and Bases) theory.
