Homing of lymphocytes from the bloodstream into secondary lymphoid organs is essential for the regulation of an efficient immune response in vivo. The central events in this recirculation is the diapedesis of the lymphocytes into the organ through specialized microvascular structures named high endothelial venules. In this review, we discuss the homing mechanism of the lymphocytes into lymph nodes which resulated by a number of adhesionmolecules expressed on the surfaces of the lymphocytes and the endothelial cells. Furthermore, relationship between the regional immune response of moxibustion-stimulated skin and the role of lymphocyte homing is also discussed.
