抄録

The histological differential diagnosis between cemento-ossifying fibroma and ossifying fibroma is still controversial since distingushing bone from cementum and non-specific calcification tissue by routine methods shows little reliabi11ty. Here we studied one case of each lesion by CPC treatment, immunohistochemical detection of collagen type I and III, and electron microscopy. We round that the distinction among bone, cementum and non-specific calcirication tissues might be greatly improved by these means, leading, therefore,to a more accurate differential diagnosis between cemento-ossirying and ossifying fibroma. The tissue origin in both cases is also discussed.
