We studied the cytomorphologic findings of body cavity fluids and imprint smears in eight cases with clear cell adenocarcinoma of the ovary.<BR>The cytological features common to both preparation were as follows, 1) collagenous stroma within cell ball, 2) mirror ball pattern, 3) distinct cell border, 4) intracytoplasmic hyaline globules, and 5) the presence of glycogen. The collagenous stroma was thought to be comprised of basement membrane components, characteristic of clear cell adenocarcinoma, and thus useful in diagnosing the tumor.
