抄録

The purpose of this study is to investigate experimentally the efficiency of tool shank material using high-damping alloy. There are various types in high-damping alloy, and GENTALLOY of ferromagnetic one in these kinds is applied for this study. The tool shank of GENTALLOY has the effect of high-damping against forced vibration of short period in interrupted cutting. This tool can expand considerably the field of cutting stability. The damping characteristics of GENTALLOY drop at out of critical value in maximum skin strain amplitude, and this tool cannot be used practically.
