  • How well is photosensory system conserved in non-photosynthetic plants? : Analysis of phytochrome genes

抄録

In non-photosynthetic plants, the photosensory system should be utilized only for the photomorphogenesis such as the germination or the flower development, not for the photocontrol to regulate the photosynthetic activity. In this study, cDNAs that encode phytochrome A homologs were cloned from a non-photosynthetic parasitic plant (Orobanche minor) and two saprophytic plants (Galeola septentrionalis and Monotropastrum globosum). Those cDNAs (OmphyA, GsphyA and MgphyA, respectively) showed high identity with phyAs from other plants. Some mutations are observed in the PAS1 domain of OmPHYA that is considered to be involved in the interaction with other signaling proteins.
