抄録

A sea-fronted sandy beach was selected as the study site for the seasonal change of vertical distribution of collembolan species. The dominant species there were Proisotoma sp. 1,Proisotoma sp. 2,Folsomina onychiurina, Parafolsomia sp. 1,Acherontiella sp. and Onychiurus sp. These species showed remarkable seasonal change in vertical distribution. Acherontiella sp., Proisotoma sp. 2,F. onychiurina and Parafolsomia sp. 1 inhabited in upper layer of soil from April to October, then shifted to deeper layer in winter. Onychiurus sp. showed a reciprocal pattern to this, namely its distribution shifted to deeper layer in summer. Proisotoma sp. 1 inhabited in upper layer throughout the seasons. Moreover, these specificities in the layer preference is related to the seasonal change in ambient temperature of microhabitat, and the temperature is correlated with the abundance of species population as an agent controlling the population level. Co-existence of many species, 23 species found in this study, in the same sandy beach is explained by these reciprocal pattern of seasonal abundance of species populations.
