Abstract

0.12K<sub>2</sub>O・0.48PbO・0.40ZnO・0.15Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>・1.70SiO<sub>2</sub>(mol) の基本組成を持つ基礎釉及び基本組成にTiO<sub>2</sub>(5wt%) とNH<sub>4</sub>VO<sub>3</sub>(3wt%) を単独または同時に加えた組成の釉について結晶化及び虹彩現象の研究を行った.<br>1150°-1250℃の温度範囲で溶融後徐冷すると基礎釉及びV添加釉ではZn<sub>2</sub>SiO<sub>4</sub>の結晶が析出するが, Ti添加釉ではZn<sub>2</sub>SiO<sub>4</sub>とZn<sub>2</sub>TiO<sub>4</sub>の結晶が析出した. TiとVを同時添加した釉ではルチル型 (TiO<sub>2</sub>) が主として析出し鮮やかな虹彩を示した. この虹彩現象は葉片状に集合した薄板状ルチル型 (TiO<sub>2</sub>) の析出によって引き起こされるが, Zn<sub>2</sub>TiO<sub>4</sub>やZn<sub>2</sub>SiO<sub>4</sub>の析出は逆に虹彩現象を弱めた. 析出結晶相の同定には, 実体顕微鏡, 走査型電子顕微鏡, 分析電子顕微鏡やX線回折装置を用い, 析出結晶と虹彩現象との関連性を詳しく議論した.

Iridescent phenomenon which is caused by the precipitation of very thin crystalline phases was studied in the glaze composition of 0.12K<sub>2</sub>O⋅0.48PbO⋅0.40ZnO⋅0.15Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>⋅1.70SiO<sub>2</sub>. The effect of TiO<sub>2</sub> and/or NH<sub>4</sub>VO<sub>3</sub> additives on the precipitation behavior was examined. During slow cooling followed by heating the above mentioned primary glaze composition in the temperature range between 1150°C and 1250°C, Zn<sub>2</sub>SiO<sub>4</sub> crystal was precipitated. Both Zn<sub>2</sub>SiO<sub>4</sub> and Zn<sub>2</sub>TiO<sub>4</sub> were precipitated when TiO<sub>2</sub> (5wt%) was added to the primary composition, while leaflet-shaped TiO<sub>2</sub> (rutile) crystals were precipitated with the addition of TiO<sub>2</sub> and NH<sub>4</sub>VO<sub>3</sub>. Clear iridescence was caused by precipitation of the leaflet-shaped TiO<sub>2</sub> (rutile) crystals, and was interfered by the precipitation of Zn<sub>2</sub>TiO<sub>4</sub> and/or Zn<sub>2</sub>SiO<sub>4</sub> crystals. The precipitates were examined by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, analytical electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometry, and the origin of the iridescent phenomenon was discussed in detail.
