*Image techniques such as motion capture or computer graphics (CG) animation are rapidly progressing and, even in sports science and engineering, these techniques will be helpful as presentation source of perceptual training. This study was aimed to find out kinematic variable (s) as perceptual cue in tennis serve by presenting the CG animation of modulated motion. First, we built a test presenting system of tennis motion in which the racket arm movement was arbitrary modulated by using direct kinematics (DK) calculation. Second, we examined the relationship between the racket kinematics and cognitive assessment by a skilled player. Anticipatory judgment of the ball course was correlated with the angle of racket face at impact, but that of the ball speed and the racket velocity at impact were not closely correlated. These results suggest that skilled player could anticipate the ball course viewing the racket posture, but the racket velocity might not be effective cue for predicting the ball speed.
