Abstract

The authors studied the cultural conditions affecting the production of the new antibiotic "A-6 substance" by the A-6 strain in economical procedure. As the results of experiments, the most favourable constituents of culture media were found as follows : the waste pulp from starch manufacture (contained about 60% starch) 3%, compressed yeast or soy bean meal 1%, (NH_4)_2SO_4 0.3%, NaCl 0.5%, CaCO_3 0.3-0.5%. But still-residues of alcohol fermentation was not suitable for the purpose (Table 1~3). The production of the A-6 substance by a submerged culture in a small fermenter gave satisfactory results.
