A sec-butyl alcohol assimilating microorganism, strain no. 320 was isolated from soil. Taxonomic study showed that its belongs to Trichosporon capitatun. Strain no. 320 utilized many kinds of alcohols, ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, n-butyl alcohol, sec-butyl alcohol and so on, and glycols, 1,3-propane diol, 1,3-butane diol etc., as a source of carbon, but was unable to assimilate n-paraffins (C_7-C_<18>).
