In the northern part of Kinki district and the eastern part of Chugoku district of the south-western part of Japan, the continuous observation of micro-earthquakes have been put in operation by the network of high sensitive seismographs since 1965. Data supplied from this network are homogeneous over a long term and most valuable to analyze the micro-structure of the spatial and temporal distribution of earthquakes. The most important nature of the distribution is that the patterns of the spatial distribution of foci were approximately replaced by many lines. These lines can be called seismic alignments. Some of such alignments are coincident with active faults which have been investigated from the surface observation. And from the pattern of the change of the activity of each seismic alignment, it is found that the seismic activity of these lines have some influences on each other. These phenomena are explained by supposing that the crust is being separated into some blocks, and active faults and seismic alignments show the boundaries between these blocks. The seismic activity in the future in each region of the crust will be predicted by the statistical analysis of such data of seismicity.
