Abstract
The influences of the primary and secondary waves in finite-amplitude sound beams from an ultrasound source with a randomly distributed pressure amplitude have been investigated. A straightforward method for theoretical prediction along and across the beam axis is given to compare with experiment. The source is consist of 256 small-size transducers, which are individually driven by electric signals of random amplitude. The fluctuations of all frequency components including the parametric signals are decreased with propagation distance. The experimental results obtained are almost consistent with the theoretical estimates.
