Abstract
According recent studies, the action potential was initiated in the axon hillock and then propagated back into the dendrites. Depending on the temporal relation between synaptic inputs and back-propagating action potentials, synaptic strength could be up- or down-regurated. This paper describes in details the time window for synaptic inputs and back-propagating action potentials through computer simulations, using a neuron model with active dendrites.
