Abstract
A broadband access network has been strongly demanded to deliver fully interactive video services cost effectively and scaleablly A single star system is promising to obtain large capacity using low cost optical interfaces, because of the completely dedicated usage and the low attenuation of optical cables. This paper proposes to use array optical interfaces to SLT in a star topology system. A link loss budget evaluation suggests the possibility of this approach to construct a broadband FTTC system, drop line of a FTTC system, and up-grade of existing PON system, with compact SLT size. The applicability of newly developed low crosstalk array optical interface modules to the FTTC system has been successfully demonstrated.
