Abstract

The authors propose a novel structure of a feed waveguide to excite plane TEM wave in a parallel plate waveguide. The feed waveguide is composed on the same layer of the parallel plate waveguide and has coupling windows spaced by the guide wavelength to excite in phase. Each window has some posts to propagate TEM wave only in boresight direction in front of it and another post to suppress the reflection in the feed waveguide. This feed structure is advantageous for planar slot array antennas for millimeter wave applications from manufacturing point of view.
