Abstract

It is difficult to carry out numerical analyses of the green water problem under heavy sea condition, shallow water sloshing on a car deck of damaged RORO ships, and so on. One of reasons is difficulty in treating fragmentation and reunite of fluid. It has been confirmed that the particle method is effective in treating these phenomena. However capability to estimate fluid dynamic forces using the particle method is not confirmed sufficiently. In this study, an attempt to confirm it is made as that forces acting on a vertical wall and a wave breaker on deck are investigated by comparing experiment results. Furthermore the averagung effect of numerical results on forces is also discussed.
