Mean-shear effects on the pressure-velocity correlation in the turbulent-energy equation are investigated with the aid of a two-scale direct-interaction approximation. These effects are missing in the current turbulence modeling in a striking contrast to the pressure-strain correlation in the Reynolds-stress equation. These effects, which are expressed in terms of the mean velocity-strain tensor, the vorticity tensor, and the Lapalacian of mean velocity, are not important in channel flow, but they may become significant in the presence of mean flow lacking such unidirectiveness.
