We present the results of our recent study on the theory of X-ray photoemission spectra (XPS), X-ray absorption spectra (XAS) and X-ray emission spectra (XES) associated mainly with the Cu 2p core-levels in high-T_C systems and related materials. Experimental data are analyzed using the single-site impurity Anderson model or a cluster model with Cu 3d orbital and O 2p valence band and by taking account of the multiplet effect due to the intraatomic Coulomb, exchange and spin-orbit interactions. In determining the spectral shape of the XPS satellite, the interplay between the intraatomic multiplet coupling and the interatomic hybridization play an essential role. The analysis is also extended to the Ni 2p-XPS of Ni dihalides. The Cu 2p-XAS, especially its polarization dependence, gives the most direct information on the sit and the symmetry of doped holes. Finally, we show that the Cu 2p-XES can also be interpreted with the impurity Anderson model and provide us with information complementary to XPS and XAS.
