Oriented thin films of the high-Tc superconductor, Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox, were prepared on a MgO (001) substrate by means of a KCl solvent evaporation technique. The film consisted of three phases: a major phase as Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox, a minor phase as Bi2Sr2CuOx and a trace phase as Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox, whose ratio depended on the growth conditions. The films showed superconducting transitions in the as-grown state above 81 K and no residuai resistivity was observed below this temperature. The epitaxiai relationship between the film and the substrate is also mentioned.
