The crystallization kinetics of amorphous PdAgSi alloys.

Two sorts of amorphous alloys, Pd78Ag4Si18 and Pd72Ag10Si18, were prepared by the roller-quenching method and were studied by measuring the exotherms with a DSC. The results showed that the crystallization process of these alloys could be explained by the equation of the autocatalyzed reaction. From the isothermal annealing, the activation energies for crystallization were determined to be 4.3 eV in Pd78Ag4Si18 and 5.0 eV in Pd72Ag10Si18. The existence of an incubation time was observed in the crystallization process of Pd72Ag10Si18.
