Polarization charges, which are assumed to be located on crystal surfaces and contribute to ultra low frequency dielectric relaxation, were investigated through thermally stimulated current (TSC) studies of perovskite titanates in both single crystal and polycrystalline forms. When the anodic sides of the poled single crystal and ceramics were removed, the TSC peak near 90oC for single crystal was entirely eliminated, while that for the ceramics was virtually unchanged. The voltage dependences of the polarized charge were also different for single crystal and ceramics with various thicknesses, providing evidence for the previously proposed `localized dipole model'.
