Abstract
Core curriculum courses begin when students in the electrical engineering program choose a specialization (major) in the spring to winter terms of their junior (third) year. Since these courses in the students' chosen major are the most difficult in the education program, attaining a high level of understanding poses challenges. In order to increase comprehension in a (core curriculum) course on semiconductor devices, `question cards' were used in an attempt to improve the problem recognition and solving abilities as well as the creativity of students.
