抄録

Generally, the superposed strength is found by the graphical solution. In this paper, it has been definitely shown that the superposed strength is the sum of position vectors on those points of contact as interaction curves of the steel and the concrete have tangent lines which are parallel to each other. And, the superposed strength formula has been theoretically derived to predict the ultimate strength of the exposed type of steel column bases. From the results carried out the eccentrically applied load tests and the lateral load tests under constant axial forces, it has been definitely shown that the superposed strength formula is able to accurately predict the ultimate strength of the exposed type of steel column bases by using the empirical formula of the bearing strength of footings proposed by authors.
