Abstract
It is important to determine the occurrence conditions of damages such as the exterior cracks of walls in wooden houses, since earthquakes of less than 6.0 of JMA seismic intensity occur n・equently in Japan. In order to assess effects of ground motion characteristics on wooden houses damages, using of equivalent-performance response spectrum is applied to the principal area of damaged wooden houses in Mihara-city duirng the 2001 Geiyo earthquake. The effect of surface-ground amplification induced by bedrock irregularities is also investigated. It is this bedrock irregularity in the principal area that induced intensive ground motion in the period range near I second, resulting in drift aneles about 1/60rad in wooden houses.
