Abstract
The performance of the m-sequence pseudorandom modulation continuous wave laser radar, RM-CW lidar, is theoretically analyzed. Although many absorption lines of atmospheric gases which can be used to measure the concentrations of the atmospheric gases exist in the near-infrared wavelength region, RM-CW lidar has not been extended yet to the near-infrared region. The advantages and limitations of near-infrared region lidar using the pseudorandom modulation technique in comparison with visible region lidar are discussed.
