Abstract

The non-linear damper system installed to base-isolated buildings is proposed and the effectiveness of this system is proved numerically.This non-linear damper is constituted with the rope arranged between moving pulleys and fix pulleys and the oil damper,which is effective only for tension called as the half effective damper,connected to the end of the rope. According to this mechanism of the rope and pulleys,this mechanism gives the non-linear damping to base-isolated buildings,that is,the damping force becomes stronger according to the increasing of the response of base-isolated building.
