弁当作りに対する保護者の意識を把握するために,2003年9月～12月に京都府,大阪府,滋賀県の幼稚園児の保護者321名を対象に質問紙調査を実施した。質問紙の回収率は86%であり276名を分析対象とした。質問紙の回答は99%が母親であり,母親の仕事の形態は専業主婦が8割を占めた。園による有意な意識差は認められず,全体で弁当作りを「楽しい」と感じる者は,わずか3%であり,「楽しいけど時々休みたくなる」が半数を占めた。一方で「出来れば作りたくないがやむをえない」とする者が34%いた。作成時限は10～30分とする者がほとんど大部分を占めたが,前日の準備もなく当日10分以内で作成を終える者や90分以上かける者も存在し,時間の幅が広いことが明らかとなった。加工食品の利用頻度は半数が「毎日利用する」と回答し,加工食品への依存度が高いことが明らかとなった。弁当作成の際,見た目も栄養バランスも考えないとする保護者もわずかであるが存在した。保護者の食への関心度によって弁当作成の留意点が異なり,これらの意識差により,子どもが家庭で弁当の話をするかどうかに有意な違いが認められ,保護者の食への関心度が子どもの弁当に対する態度に影響をおよぼすことが示唆された。

A questionnaire survey was conducted among 321 kindergartner's guardians living in Kyoto, Osaka, and Shiga prefectures to analyze the effect of the guardians' considerations in making the, lunch box on their children's dietary attitude. The analysis subjects were 276 kindergartner's guardians. The results were as follows. 1) The people who enjoyed making the lunch box were 3%, and those who did not want to make it, if possible, were 34% of the guardians. 2) The time to prepare the lunch box was different according to the persons, ranging from only 10 minutes to 90 minutes. 3) About half of the guardians used processed food every day, and their dependency on the processed foods was very high. 4) The considerations in making the lunch box, for example, nutrition balance and using vegetables, differed according to the degree of the guardians' concern about diet. 5) The frequency of communications from the children to their guardians about the lunch box significantly differed between the guardians with high considerations and those with low considerations in making the lunch box. The results of our study indicated that the guardians' considerations in making the lunch box influenced their children's attitude toward diet.
