亚洲稻作起源研究的回顾 Reflections on the Origin of Rice Cultivation in Asia

本文は中国長江下流域考古学調査研究成果の一部である。ここでは,20世紀70年代以来中日両国の学者によって行われてきた,アジア稲作起源問題をめぐる代表的な研究について論評し,異なる起源説の持つ学術貢献および欠点を紹介した。この課題には今後の発見とさらなる探索が必要であり,まだ結論を出しがたい現段階においては,多学科的開拓と整合,理論と方法の創新がより重要な学術価値と意義を持つと指摘したい。とりわけアジア稲作の起源問題を一国のみでなく,アジア全体的な視野において探求しなければならないと強調する。

This is one of the outputs on a research project on South China Rice Cultivation Culture headed by Prof. Xu Guanghui. By commenting on the major studies on the origin of rice cultivation done by both Chinese and Japanese scholars, this paper demonstrates the strong and weak points of previous researches. It is pointed out that this research is, by all means, an ongoing process, it is important to employ multi-disciplinary, creative theoretical approaches and renovative methodology at the current stage of empirical studies. It is also emphasized that the origin of rice cultivation in Asia must be put in the context of Asia as a holistic region rather than constraining it within a specific country borderline.
