Abstract

The development of technology has made significant impact upon libraries in the last quarter of a century. Interlibrary loan service is not an exception. With the improvements of ILL systems, lending and borrowing activities between libraries have increased significantly in the United States. Technology also has brought new aspects such as document delivery and copyright on electronic materials, which make ILL services various and complex. This paper will talk about the current state of ILL systems in the United States, such as delivery systems, ordering systems, and copyright issues with ILL, by presenting the services at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
