Abstract

The flashover voltage with a backside electrode below needle was lower than one without a backside electrode. Under μs pulse voltage application, we describe about characteristics of creeping discharge developed in narrow gap with a backside electrode. Using CCD camera and ultra-high speed camera, we observed corona extension process. As a result, in result of the flashover voltage and corona onset voltage, flashover voltage decreased in positive polarity of SF_6 content D=3%. In corona extension using ultra-high speed camera, the peculiar difference were observed on the corona extension process, the corona extension decreased in D=0%, rapid flashover were observed in D=3%. Using CCD camera, the small corona were detected from backside electrode.
