Abstract

This study explores some factors which have influenced the reforms of the year 1-10 curriculum in Queensland, Australia and attempt to clarify the relationship between each project which led to the reforms. More specifically this study aims to indicate the influence of the research between literacy and technology on curriculum reform. The reason is that Queensland has had a history and tradition of making a community-based educational system by using ICT and has showed accumulated considerable research on literacy and research on rural education. At first I try to draw the history of educational reform and a trend map of curriculum reform in Australia to compare the position of curriculum reform in Queensland. Then I show the movements of the reform of the year 1-10 curriculum in Queensland and attempt to indicate the role of each project, which has taken place there. Finally I make clear the meaning of both New Basic Project and Digital Rhetoric Project in terms of the curriculum reform in Queensland.
