帯笑園には, 広い地域から様々な階層の人が訪れている.それは, 帯笑園が東海道に面しており, その名声が, 東海道を往来する旅人を通じて広まり, 旅人を引き寄せたことによる.植松家が収集した多数の書画も帯笑園の魅力であった.植木や書画を話題に, 富士を眺望する庭で一時を過ごすのが, 帯笑園での訪問者の一般的な過ごし方であった.訪問者は, 帯笑園に様々なものをもたらしている.大名や公家といった高貴な身分の者のもたらすのは, 訪問による栄誉や返礼に贈られる工芸品や美術品であり, それには公家たちの書や絵画も含まれる.第一線で活躍する武士たちは珍しい話, 特にこの時期には異国船や大砲についての新しい知識と情報をもたらした.遊芸の師も, 煎茶や月琴といった当時教養ある人々が習得すべきとされる芸をたずさえて訪れた.帯笑園の魅力を作り出す, 珍しい植物も旅をする植木屋たちが運んでいる.旅人たちを通じて, 植物や書画のコレクションが集められ, それらのコレクションが帯笑園の名声を高めてさらに訪問者を呼び寄せる.これら植物と書画のコレクションを通じて, 小さな宿場町の民家の庭である帯笑園は, 様々な土地から訪れた様々な階層の人々がひとときを過ごす場たり得たのである.

Taishoen, a garden owned by the Uematsus and known with a large collection of bonsai and rare plants, attracted many tourists in the late Edo period, because it was located in Kara, a post town on the Tokaido Highway, the busiest highway at that time. Visitors varies from the high and noble to the humble: aristocrats, feudal lords, swordmen, merchants, farmers, tea masters, musicians, nurserymen, etc. They enjoyed a magnificent collections of plants and a fine view of Mt. Fuji, as well as the paintings and calligraphies exhibited in the garden. They brought information and objects from the outer society. Some of them left poems, paintings and calligraphic works. Wandering tea masters and musicians stayed several days and gave lessons. The nurserymen from Edo, Osaka and Nagoya brought new species that were exchanged on the market of the big cities. The collection of Taisho-en, both plants and paintings and calligraphies, became richer with objects that visitors brought, and the garden earned better reputation with the collection.
