Abstract

Although many mothers wish to breast-feed their babies, they occasionally encounter difficulties in determining when to start and how to continue breast-feeding. To contribute to improvement of the situation, the present study investigated the trend in and attitude towards breast-feeding support among Physicians (hospital obstetricians and obstetricians in practice, hospital pediatricians and pediatricians in practice) in Tochigi prefecture. An investigation subject were recovered from 35 hospital obstetricians, 22 obstetricians in private practice, 44 hospital pediatricians and 25 pediatricians in private practice. But the recovery rate was as low as 20-39%, An investigation item is five items that made a WHO/UNICEF conjugation statement in reference and four items to ask about knowledge of the medicine which is necessary for judgment when we promote breast-feeding support. As a result, the way of thinking for breast-feeding support was different from a, practicing physician between a, type of job interval or an obstetrician and pediatricians between hospital doctors in an item of other all except four items to be related to, medical knowledge. It is thought that networking to have exchange of opinions between, experts and common recognition becomes important to promote, breast-feeding support in future.
