Abstract
ラットを用いて自律神経活動、脂肪分解、熱産生、血圧、摂食量と体重に対するグレープフルーツ精油とラベンダー精油の匂い刺激効果について検討した。グレープフルーツ精油の匂い刺激は白色脂肪組織、褐色脂肪組織と副腎を支配する交感神経活動を促進し、胃を支配する副交感神経活動を抑制した。一方、グレープフルーツ精油の匂い刺激は白色脂肪組織、褐色脂肪組織と副腎を支配する交感神経活動を抑制し、胃を支配する副交感神経活動を促進した。これらの自律神経活動の変化から予想されるごとく、前者の匂い刺激は脂肪分解、熱産生を亢進させ、血圧を高め、摂食量と体重を減少させた。後者の匂い刺激は脂肪分解、熱産生を抑制し、血圧を低下させ、摂食量と体重を増加させた。これらの匂い刺激の効果には脳内ヒスタミン神経系と体内時計である視交叉上核が関与することを示す結果が得られた。
