As poverty reduction has been one of MDGs, many efforts were made to achieve the goal. Although the effects of these efforts are examined at various levels so far, country level analyses seem to be desirable, according to the specification of poverty definitions. Among these poverty reduction efforts, infrastructure development has caught attentions of international community to contribute to both economic growth and poverty reduction. In this paper, poverty definitions are investigated for Vietnam and the effect of infrastructure development, especially those related to living standards improvement, on poverty is explored.
