Abstract

Multibody system analysis is applied to development of automobile, and it becomes possible by multibody system analysis to investigate thoroughly the characteristics of automobile, for example, the performance of vehicle dynamics and the riding comfort. In this paper, the authors propose to apply the method of multibody dynamics to driving simulator with 6-DOF motion system. By this proposal, the characteristics of driving simulator become very similar to the actual automobiles. It is possible to predict the performance of vehicle dynamics and the riding comfort by feeling test without prototyping automobile. The aim of conventional driving simulator is the estimation of human characteristics represented by identification of driver model. In addition, the proposed simulator can be used as a tool of automobile development.
