Abstract

Modeling of a practical rough surface is required in CFD to meet with limited computer power. Authors intend to create a model of a rough surface in which effects of roughness elements are represented by plane circles having adequate normal and shear stress. In this report, a prediction method of the flow resistance in a pipe flow having periodic roughness elements is proposed to give a basis of validity of the modeling. This simple and novel method is applicable to calculate the flow resistance in pipe flows in the practice of engineering.
