• Summary Report on a Snowball Sampling Survey of Local Currency in Japan

抄録

全国の地域通貨運営団体を対象に、目的・運営形態・効果・問題点等に関する郵送調査を実施した。調査対象によってさらに他の新しい対象を紹介してもらうスノーボール式サンプリングを行い、最終的に107の地域通貨からの回答を得た。単純集計結果をもとにすると、(1)地域経済の活性化を第一の目標にするものは全体の1割にみたず、コミュニティの再生などを目標においているものがほとんどである。(2)問題点としては、使用が一回かぎりの場合が多く流通しにくいことや、活動が広がらないことをあげているものが多いことがわかった。

This paper reports the results of a snowball sampling survey on the purpose, management, effect and problems of local currencies in Japan. We received 107 responses to a survey. The results show that: (1) Most of the respondents aim for the development of the local community, while less than 10 percent had the intention of renovating the regional economy. (2) Many respondents found problems in the lack of circulation and popularity of their currency.
