抄録
Osteocyte network system embedded in bone matrix is considered as one of the important elements in the mechanosensory mechanism. This study observed the response of an isolated osteocyte to mechanical stimulus, as the first step to clarify the complex mechanisms of mechanosensing and signal transduction of the osteocyte network in living tissue matrix. Change in the intracellular Ca^<2+> concentration induced by mechanical stimulus to the osteocyte cell body was observed, and the sensitivity to the stimulus was compared with that of the osteoblast. In addition, the role of cytoskeletal actin filaments in the mechanosensory mechanism was discussed in terms of its localized distribution in the cell body and processes through the comparison with the osteoblasts.
