The purpose of this study is to clarify the effect of temperature and sound on visual evaluation of townscape in Kyoto. Environmental conditions were temperature condition (20.5℃ and 24.5℃) and sound condition (47dB of ambient noise, 65dB of road traffic noise and 56dB of the murmuring of a stream). The Semantic Differential method was used. Consequently, it was shown that environmental factors other than vision, such as temperature and noise, influenced significantly the evaluation of townscapes. Furthermore, the influence of sound, the difference between subjects, etc. were discussed.
